4. Do Give Yourself A Way Out
If you have a tendency to feel anxious on first dates, feel free to make the first one just a quick meetup to see if the two of you jive. You don't have to put yourself through a three hour get-to-know-you if the thought of meeting new people makes your hands sweat. Instead, let them know you have dinner plans after but you would love to meet them for a drink or coffee beforehand.

That way you have yourself an hour long countdown, and then you can politely excuse yourself afterwards. If you hit it off, you can set up another date. If you didn't, off you go!
