2003: 'The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King'
Considering it was the final installment of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, it makes sense that it would be honored by the Academy. So honored, in fact, that the film won all 11 of it's nominations, becoming the record holder for the highest clean sweep in Oscar history. It further made history as the first fantasy film to win Best Picture.
