14. Masonic Temple in Detroit, Michigan
The Gothic-style Masonic Temple is certainly an impressive addition to the city of Detroit, Michigan. But its looming architecture is not the only thing that's memorable about it. In the past, urban legend dictated that the building's architect, George D. Mason, went bankrupt while funding its construction, and then jumped from the roof in despair.

While it's since been reported that Mason did not commit suicide, and instead died in his bed at the ripe old age of 92, we still believe he built a maze of secret passageways and staircases within the Temple's walls.
