11. Queen Anne Hotel, San Francisco, CA
This Victorian hotel started out as an all-girls etiquette school in the late 1800s. Though it may have been converted into a hotel, its history remains –– specifically, in the form of the ghost of the school's late headmistress. Miss Mary Lake reportedly unpacks guests' luggage and tucks them into bed. Okay, so being tucked into bed isn't exactly the stuff of our nightmares (it's strange but also appropriately polite), but still. Eerie.
