17. Preston Castle in Ione, CA
The Preston School of Industry, also known as Preston Castle, was founded in 1894 as a correctional facility for young boys. The reform school was built in a Roman Revival style, and to this day is said to be shrouded in mystery and supernatural activity.

After all, at least 23 graves belonging to former inmates are located at the cemetery on the castle grounds. They say those spirits remain restless, still feeling detached and isolated from society –– even in death. Booking an overnight stay at this castle is certainly not for everyone, but the brave of heart can do so on the website.
