Roller Coasters Were Created To Rid The World Of Sin
In the 1880s, a businessman named LaMarcus Thompson, was so disgusted with the sinful behavior of his fellow humans (sex, drinking, the good stuff), that he marched on down to Coney Island, where all this fun was going down, and invented the first roller coaster. His thinking was he'd give all the sinful people down there another kind of thrill, ideally keeping them away from drinking and sex. Clearly, it didn't work.
