These Inspiring 80-Year-Old Basketball Players Will Make You Rethink Every Excuse You've Ever Made
The San Diego Splash prove it's never too late to do something you love.
In a society where being "too old" feels like a very real thing, it's fabulous to see a group of women (all over 80) who are dribbling right past that nonsense. Meet the ladies of the San Diego Splash, who were recently featured in a short film by espnW, and prove that it's never to late to follow your dreams — even if that simply means getting on the basketball court.
The Splash are part of the San Diego Senior Women’s Basketball Association, for women over 50, and the oldest members of the team are both 91. They play three-on-three half-court games with 15-minute halves and we can only hope to be this awesome when we're 80 — heck, this awesome ever. Because while we're over here dreaming up ways to stay in bed and watch This is Us all day, these gals are lacing up to hit the court. So the next time you're feeling lazy or make some lame excuse for being too old, or tired, or stressed or whatever, think about the Splash.
