During the initial hype of Fifty Shades of Grey, I read the first the book. My sister, someone whom I consider to be somewhat sexually sheltered, had read it and had not only become obsessed with it, but was insistent that I read it, too. I didn’t have to get very far into the first book to realize it was not my cup of tea, that the writing was really bad, and that the time I’d spend reading it would be a waste. But, like a champ, I continued on and read it. It was indeed a waste.

But despite that fact, there is something to be taken from the Fifty Shades trilogy, even if you’re a book and film snob like me. Whether you love the Christian and Anastasia saga or think it’s the worst, here are 20 things you should learn from the series.
