7. Don't visit with a cough
Nothing scares new parents quite as much as the threat of whooping cough, which can kill a newborn baby. Even if you've been vaccinated, it's possible to transmit the disease without realizing it. Adults and older children often exhibit milder symptoms, so make sure to stay away until your cough has disappeared, even if you're certain it's not contagious. After all, you don't want to worry the new parents who may not be quite as confident it won't spread.
