Meghan And Harry Are Breaking Royal Baby Traditions, And We're Here For It

The Duke and Duchess are doing things on their terms, as we think they should.

Harry and Meghan may be royals, but that doesn't mean they follow every tradition. This morning, Buckingham Palace announced the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with baby Sussex, will not participate in the usual Lindo Wing photo op — and we're totally here for it.

The photo op tradition began with Harry's parents, as Princess Diana and Prince Charles posed with both William and Harry after their respective births. William and Kate followed in their footsteps, and participated in camera-filled sessions for all three of their children.

Instead, Meghan and Harry will take photos at Windsor Castle a few days after returning home with their new little baby. The statement from Buckingham Palace reads, "Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family."

The photo op must be overwhelming at best. We can't imagine having to go from giving birth to getting your hair and makeup done, putting on a formal outfit, and being slammed by cameras flashing in your, and your newborn baby's, face. It makes sense the Duke and Duchess would want a little privacy — we would too.

Meghan and Harry have been untraditional with other aspects of the pregnancy, as well. While the Palace only said Meghan would be due in Spring 2019, the Duchess freely revealed to a crowd her due date is at the end of April. In contrast, taking a more private route, it is still unknown where Meghan will give birth, with many speculating she's planning to have a home birth.

Either way, we think it's awesome Harry and Meghan are doing things the way they want. This is a very special time for the newlyweds, and they should feel comfortable every step of the way.

That being said, we can't wait to catch of glimpse of the new royal babe.
