3. Stay At A Hostel: Reason One
Aside from them being infinitely cheaper than hotels, hostels also offer up a bevvy of outings and tours that you might not hear of if you just Google what to do before your arrival. People that work in hostels usually are from the city or are travelers that have lived there for a month or two, meaning they're all well acquainted with what to do, where to go, and what kind of tours or day trips are available.

You can easily walk up to the front desk and ask for an itinerary, and they will hook you up with some interesting, out of the box ideas. For example, in Krakow, my front desk  recommended I take a day trip to the salt mines that are about thirty minutes away - and these mines had cathedrals chiseled away into them. They were gorgeous, and I'm not sure I would have heard of that idea if I was just on my own.
