21. Create a budget for renovations and repairs before closing
While it's challenging to get an exact estimate of what work on your home will cost, it's good to at least have a ballpark budget going so you know what to expect. This is especially important for work that can't be put off-- you don't want to move into your dream home only to discover you can't afford to complete needed work. After all, things like leaky roofs really can't be postponed.
