What to Wear: The New Real World House

The news that MTV is rebooting its long-running Real World series to include the housemates' exes isn't exactly groundbreaking (guys, Chris Harrison has been digging up unhinged former flames for the The Bachelor since before the first rose). However, the format of the forthcoming San Francisco-based Real World: Ex-Plosion does pose an interesting wardrobe dilemma for its castmembers (pictured below). How does one dress when one is sharing a bathroom with one's potential love interest and one's former potential love interest?

Well the obvious answer is "hot and to-be-noticed," and it's a safe bet judging from the above publicity photo that most of the female castmembers will go for a body-con-all-the-time Nasty Gal-or-bust route (no judgment). But to our way of thinking—stay with us here—there's a more strategic, more subtle long-game to be played.

If we were joining this televised trainwreck spectacle, we'd be dressing for our prospects post-show—becasue the really good ones are probably the ones you'll encounter on the press junket, or in a bar when someone really drunk standing near them yells out that they saw you on TV.

So we're endorsing a two-step plan (which, by the way, also applies to untelevised group cohabitation moments, say, on group ski vacations): one figure-hugging-but-not-desperate-looking dress, and a pair of cute blousy yet leg-bearing PJs for those "lounging in the background while your roomies dramatically throw things at each other in the kitchen" moments.
