What to Wear: Printed Trousers

When it comes to creating an outfit, pants tend to be the one neutral item that ties the pieces all together. We buy blue jeans and black trousers in bulk knowing they will go with anything on top. But it's time to get out of your rut by shaking things up and building your ensemble from the bottom up.

Printed pants may sway shoppers in the other direction because they seem like a challenge to match with at first, but allow us to convince you they go with just as much as plain ones. They work both in and out of an office setting—just pick a simple print, neutral color, and tapered fit. As proof, we took a pair of Mango printed tuxedo-stripe trousers and styled them three different ways to show you just how versatile they can be.

Look 1: Keep It Simple

One surefire way to look great in printed pants is to pick a simple top. A white, flowy silk blouse won't clash with the pattern and looks pulled together.

Look 2: Add Color

Just because your pants are a little flashier doesn't mean you have to shy away from color. Try a casual blazer in a bright shade to wear with a basic tee.

Look 3: Dress Them Down

The weekend calls for a comfy sweater. This crewneck keeps things a little dressy with an embellished neckline.
