A 2015 study by the U.S. Census Bureau found that more women than ever aren't having kids. The research found that, as of 2013, the general fertility rate had fallen for six years in a row, meaning that maintaining the current population in the States won't be happening at the rate things are going — which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

As to why this is the case, there are a few components. Some of it is money, some of it is career-related, and some is simply that the tides are changing and women want to do other things with their lives than be a mom.
