Founded in the mid-13th century, Tallinn is one of those fairytale cities that you fall into and never want to get out of. You think there's a knight or clever apothecary around every corner, but it's not just all cobblestone streets and pale ale with your elk soup around here. Estonia was also underneath Soviet control until 1990, and there are fascinating remnants from that time strewn across the city — from flea markets with USSR-like coats to KGB museums that teach you the fine art of bugging a telephone.
