How It Works
To understand the benefits of IF, you must first understand how it works. When you eat, your body enters the process of digesting and absorbing food. This continues for about 3-5 hours after you stop eating. During this time, insulin levels are up and your system works to store excess energy in your liver and other parts of your body as fat. Once that process comes to an end, insulin levels drop back down, but it isn't until 8-12 hours later that your body truly enters a fasted state — and that, my friends, is when the magic happens.

In a fasted state, your body turns to the stored fat as energy. If you eat at all hours of the day, your insulin levels will stay spiked and you won't have the chance to tap into that excess food energy. Therefore, people turn to IF to break that cycle.
