This Is The True Love Language Of Your Zodiac Sign

You’re probably familiar with the term “love language” by now. The ubiquitous term was coined by Gary Chapman in his book The Five Love Languages. The relationship expert put forth the theory that everyone understands and receives love in a different language, five to be exact: acts of service, physical touch, quality time, words of affirmation and receiving gifts. 

There are quizzes you can take to learn your love language, but if you want a deeper dive into how you give and receive love, astrology is also a helpful tool when it comes to understanding how you connect in relationships. Your sun sign is a good indicator of what’s important to you when it comes to feeling truly loved and how you show love in return. 

So whether you want to better communicate with your partner about your needs or want to better understand what they need from you, Jacquelin Blegen, co-host of the Vicious Virgos Podcast, shares which love language shows up the most in your sun sign. Keep reading to learn yours.

Aries (March 21 - April 19): Words of Affirmation

“Being the bold and fearless ram that you are, sometimes you’re a little too impulsive and likely haven’t thought through to your next move completely yet,” says Blegen. “Which is why it helps so much if those you love and care for shower you with words of affirmation and encouragement.” Also important to keep in mind: while you’re not into a traditional gift, you’re definitely not one to turn down someone giving you a new experience or adventure. 

Taurus (April 20 - May 20): Physical Touch

“Ruled by Venus, you’re all about getting touchy-feely and close to the people you love. It’s not just sexual touch you crave though,” says Blegen, “You also need all that non-sexual affection like cuddles, hugs, hand holding, and any kind of playful touching.” As an element of Earth, Blegen notes it’s important for you to feel especially grounded in your body’s senses, “So when you feel disconnected from your body or the planet, the only thing that brings you back to reality is going to be something that appeals to your senses.”

Gemini (May 21 - June 20): Quality Time

“As an air sign, you’re all about that conversation. So deep listening and thinking conversations that you can get lost in for hours are the key to your heart,” says Blegen. “You come off as being surface level and might find some gossip to lighten the mood — but we know better. You love to skip the surface and go as deep as possible, as quickly as possible.”

The best way to draw you out, says Blegen, is for someone to truly pay attention to you, get to know you, and hear your needs through conversation. “Having someone who checks in on you, reminds you that you’re their number one, and never stops flirting with you is [what quality time means for you].”

Cancer (June 21 - July 22): Acts of Service

“You’re constantly taking care of everyone else that you never stop to consider; maybe you need someone to take care of you,” says Blegen, “Find the yin to your yang, you need someone who picks up where you leave off.” Since you’re constantly going out of your way to nurture everyone, Blegen says it’s important that you feel valued and recognized for everything that you do. “Even though you’re unlikely to ask for it, we all know that you’d cry in a heartbeat if someone did the household chores for you.”

Leo (July 23 - August 22): Words of Affirmation

“You have the confidence to rule a kingdom, but you’re smart enough to know that great leaders don’t stand alone,” says Blegen. “You need a partner who affirms how great you are, encourages your ideas, and helps build you up.” And while positive reinforcement goes a long way with you, Blegen says it’s important to make sure you’re communicating that to your partner so they don’t have to guess what you need.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22): Acts of Service

“Virgo, you work so hard and passionately toward things that matter to you, and we love you for that. You’re planners, perfectionists, sometimes we credit you with making the world go round,” says Blegen. “You’re so caught up in handling everything perfectly, that you can feel like you’re the only one who cares about keeping things in order.” Which is why she says your perfect partner will help pick up the house while you’re at work. 

“[You need] someone who takes you out of your own head, and the only way to do that is to remove as many distractions as possible a.k.a. you need someone who handles dinner, dishes, and rubs your feet after a long day.”

Libra (September 23 - October 22): Gift Giving

“Luxury really should be your first name because you love being surrounded by the finer things in life. [You love] anything that’s aesthetically pleasing to look at and touch, so of course gifts being your love language is a no-brainer,” says Blegen. “When you find someone who just gets your taste, it’s essentially a full-body experience for you.”

According to Blegen the best gift you can receive is from someone who explicitly tells you that they’re giving you a gift without any expectations of anything in return. “Find someone who at the end of the day is willing to help you unwind, reconnect, and melt away your stress.”

Scorpio (October 23 - November 21): Physical Touch

“We know you put on a tough front, but your cuddles are literally the best thing in the entire world,” says Blegen. “You’re known for being highly sexual, so you often use intimacy to show how you care. You’ll be happiest finding a partner who not only shows physical affection on both a surface and intimate level, but also makes you feel safe and secure.”

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21): Quality Time

“Because you’re so active, you need a companion who can go along for the ride,” says Blegen, “Nothing gets you more excited than when your partner is down for anything and makes sure you both have a good time no matter where you are.” Because you do such a great job of planning fun things for you and your partner, Blegen says you really need someone “who not only holds your hand through these experiences, but also remembers to say thank you and looks for ways to repay your kindness, even if it’s on a smaller scale.” 

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19): Gift Giving

“You won’t ask for it, but when your partner gives you something that supports your goals, maybe even saves you time on something, pushes your career further — you know, practical gifts, you appreciate the hell out of that,” says Blegen. “You’re so often described as being distant and emotionless, but as long as your partner knows that you approach your emotions from a practical place, they’ll know exactly how to support you.” 

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18): Acts of Service

“Oh Aqua, in your perfect world where everything is aligned, we know you’re dreaming of everyone doing just a little act of kindness toward each other in our day-to-day living,” says Blegen. “Something as small as taking in your neighbors trash cans or picking up coffee for your friend as you’re headed to go meet up with them. These acts of services are not grand gestures, but they add up — and definitely don’t go unnoticed.”

Pisces (February 19 - March 20): Quality Time

“You love your alone time, but when you’re ready to emerge from your hibernation, all you want to do is spend time doing things that you love with people you love,” says Blegen. “You’re all about making memories together and having adventures and experiences that you'll remember forever.” However Blegen warns when dating a Pisces, be prepared for them to fall off the planet for a day or two, and please let them, they need it. “Don’t worry though, once they’ve committed to you, they’ll let you know when they’re back to reality through their text messages that say, “Please come over, let’s snuggle in bed and watch Netflix.’”
