Between winter wind and basically having to have hat hair every day due to sub-zero temperatures, our poor strands have no doubt gone through a lot this winter. Bring them back to life with a simple DIY hair mask from fashion and beauty blogger Kelly Dillon, who is also a correspondent for Hip NJ. Get the recipe for Dillon's super simple concoction, below.

Two parts coconut oil
One part olive oil

Combine coconut and olive oil, and mix well. (A few tablespoons should work.) Apply the mixture to dry hair. Focus on the ends to help heal split ends. Cover head with a shower cap and leave on for 15 to 30 minutes. Pro tip: you can even leave it on overnight, depending on how damaged your hair is. Rinse mixture out, then shampoo and condition as normal.

Dillon explains this is a fabulous natural treatment for healthy hair as both oils are great at combating frizz. Rich with lauric acid, capric acid, and vitamins E and K, coconut oil is great for hair strength and also protects the hair from protein loss. It has anti-fungal properties that make it a great natural anti-dandruff treatment. In addition, coconut oil also helps with hair breakage, shine, thickness, hair growth and split ends. Olive oil combats frizz, moisturizes the scalp and helps prevent flaking for an overall one-two punch.
