Model Erin Heatherton's Beauty Essentials
Curve's new brand ambassador talks finding fragrance and her must-have international brands.
From fashion shows to photo shoots, being a model often includes a lot of glitz and glam. But don't be fooled—these girls often have an athletic side, and Erin Heatherton is no exception.
The model is the face of sports apparel line The Northwest and has appeared on the FX series The League. Now, she's branching out into sporty fragrance as a brand ambassador for Curve. We got a chance to sit down with the six-foot blonde to talk fitness, fragrance and beauty at the official launch of the company's new men's cologne, Curve Sport.
Hailing from Illinois, the beauty is a huge fan of Chicago sports. Growing up, she played basketball and ran track, so staying active has always been a huge part of her life. As far as her exercise must-haves go? "In my gym bag, I have face wipes, a long-sleeved shirt to stay warm at first, socks and shoes because I work out barefoot, lip balm and my music."
Her current workout playlist includes soul and funk artists such as D'Angelo, Stevie Wonder and Curtis Mayfield. "I need things with good rhythm," she says. "I used to listen to hip-hop but I’ve become more interested in old music."
The former Victoria's Secret Angel admits her tastes have also changed when it comes to scents. "The first fragrance I ever bought was Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb. Those were different times though—that is a very potent summer fragrance."
No matter how hard we pried, she wouldn't reveal her current perfume since it took her her whole life to find it. However, the stunner did say she looks for something different and sophisticated when picking out a new bottle, letting the notes speak to her before she decides. "I look for something that I feel is meant for me," she says. "It’s very spiritual. I want it to make me feel something powerful."
Part of her job description includes traveling around the globe, which gives her the opportunity to test out international beauty brands. Trips to France always include a pharmacy stop so she can pick up Biafine and Homeoplasmine, she notes. Heatherton also routinely hits up the airport's duty-free shop when flying to buy her other global favorites: face wash from South Korean brand Amorepacific and mascara from Japanese label Shiseido.
When it comes to beauty advice, the 25-year-old says staying away from tweezers is key, as she's currently working on growing out her eyebrows, à la top model Cara Delevingne. "Let them be big and lovely and young," she enthuses. We couldn't agree more.
