Meet Bailey and Destiny, the New Fish in the Sea in 'Finding Dory'
There's two new fish in the sea. (Okay, one's a mammal.)
We all know Nemo and Dory and Sheldon and Mr. Ray, and now there are two new friends in the underwater pack! Pixar just released this ultra cute image of Bailey the beluga whale (voiced by Ty Burrell) and Destiny the whale shark (voiced by Kaitlin Olson), who'll join the crew in Finding Dory next summer.
Finding Dory takes place six months after Finding Nemo, and follows Dory's search for her parents. She stops off at a marine rehabilitation center, where she meets her new pals.
We don't know too much else about how Destiny and Bailey fit into the plot but Burrell gave this little glimpse into their relationship in a recent interview: “My character isn’t great at his own sonar capability, and Destiny has trouble swimming straight," he said (via EW).
Olson added: “We totally get on each other’s nerves. I like to think I’m a shark, but Bailey calls me a whale, and I make fun of his head, because it’s gigantic.” Isn't that exactly the kind of cute humor you've been wanting on the big screen?
Olson also made sure to clarify that Destiny isn't going to be like her Always Sunny in Philadelphia character. “I’m a lot nicer in this movie than I am in my television show,” she said. “You don’t really see Sweet Dee being sweet, ever. This character is. It was a lot of fun to play that and be vulnerable.”
