When you think of Australian shoes, the first thing that comes to mind is your beloved Ugg boots. That's why we were delightfully surprised to discover a different kind of Aussie shoe line when we encountered ultra-sophisticated label The Mode Collective. We can instantly picture stylish natives such as Cate Blanchett or Margot Robbie rocking the brand's designs but more than that, we can't wait to start sporting a pair ourselves.

Despite its Australian roots, Mode Collective is actually made by artisans in Spain and Brazil, both considered the holy grails of shoe making. Handcrafted, artisanal footwear usually costs upwards of $500 but somehow the Mode Collective manages to keep its shoe prices under $300.

Brand Spotlight: The Mode Collective(Source: Mode Collective Point Loafer, $200)The line spans from flat strappy sandals ($235) to pointy toe ankle boots ($250) and sexy sheer booties ($250). Added details such as gold hardware and exotic faux skins that mimic the textures of lizard and croc add a refined edge. The mostly neutral palette and clean silhouettes give each shoe a classic sense of wearability.
