Over the last year, Ben Affleck's gigantic back tattoo was almost talked about more than his alleged affair with his kids' nanny. Almost.
But we're here to tell you some exciting news: the massive phoenix tattoo is fake — so he says.
The actor told Mario Lopez that the piece was "fake for a movie", though he is actually inked in other more concealed spots. “I actually do have a number of tattoos … but I try to have them in places where you don’t have to do a lot of cover up … they get sort of addictive, tattoos, after awhile,” he told Lopez (via Extra TV).
He might want to pass this info on to two of his exes, however. Jennifer Garner recently talked about the tat when she opened up to Vanity Fair about their split. “You know what we would say in my hometown about that? ‘Bless his heart.’ A phoenix rising from the ashes. Am I the ashes in this scenario?” Garner said in the interview. “I take umbrage. I refuse to be the ashes.”
Jennifer Lopez also threw major shade at the ink on Watch What Happens Live. She called it "awful" and says she'd tell her ex to his face. She said: “I would tell him that! I would tell him, ‘What are you doing?’ It has too many colors. His tattoos always have too many colors. They shouldn’t be so colorful!”
No word on if she approves of Affleck's arm tattoos — you know the ones he showed off in her racy 2002 "Jenny from the Block" music video. Here's a great refresher:
