Jennifer Aniston's hair is synonymous with her career. It all started with Friends and "The Rachel" cut, which sent women in the '90s flocking to salons with her picture. Up to now, she's still a champion of good hair days, acting as co-owner and spokesperson for haircare line Living Proof. Somewhere wedged between those two on her mane's timeline is this moment from the 1999 Emmy Awards: dreadlocks.
Aniston's dreads are more like textured twists than the real deal, but it was still an unexpected look nonetheless. This was the only time in her hair history she truly departed from silky strands. While some may think it's a misstep, her signature smile reveals that she at least rocked it with confidence. She even revealed to Allure in 2001 that, surprisingly, dreads weren't the look she regretted most. "Have there been disasters? I think that's a very relative term with hair," she said. "Let's say there have been moments I'd rather not relive, like that whole 'Rachel' thing...which was not my best look." Who would've thought?
See her rock the dreads, alongside then-hubby Brad Pitt (now that's a real #throwback):
