Your average, everyday pencil skirt just got one hell of a sexy upgrade.

We're not sure who did it first, but someone awesome took the work wardrobe staple and gave it a bit of a bondage twist by constructing it out of polyvinyl chloride, commonly known as PVC, which is a rubbery, vinyl-like fabric.

Of course your favorite celebrities (on this side of the pond and the other) took to the look and ran with it. And here's why: Regardless of the color, it's such a showstopping piece that barely needs accessorizing, thanks to the high-shine finish. Kim Kardashian wore one with a plain white tee; Ashley Madekwe paired hers with a short-sleeved sweater; Sam Faiers topped hers with a plaid button down; and Rita Ora borrowed from the boys and contrasted her see-through version with an oversize white shirt. (Leigh Lezark went PVC on the top and the bottom.)

Now for the bad news: Valentino, Jonathan Saunders, and Burberry all have pricey patent pencil skirts available this season, but since so many celebrities have fallen head over heels for this super slick garment, all of the affordable options are completely sold out. However, watch this space—if style stars keep rocking the look, we're sure stores will start restocking soon.
