Editor's Pick: AYR Skinny Jeans

After a year-long search for new denim, I've finally found my match.

Being petite and short-waisted, searching for denim is akin to torture for me. If a pair is the perfect length, they're usually too high waisted. Then, there's the dreaded stretch-out after a few hours. In talking to my friends about this subject, I've found searching for denim is, in fact, the least-liked shopping mission out there—right up there with bathing suit shopping.

It really shouldn't be this hard, but jeans are just one of those garments that must be tried on, broken in and scrutinized over and over. I've been on a year-long quest for jeans. In a fit of cleaning last summer, I threw out much of my boring denim only to discover that I only had two pairs I really love and they're both over four years old. Eek.

In my search for some unknown brand that would solve my dilemma, I came upon AYR, a year-old collection of high quality wardrobe staples that includes—you guessed it—denim. As soon as I saw that AYR offers shorter inseams I had high hopes. It's rare I find a pair of jeans I don't need to hem but (swoon) they have a perfect 28 inseam available.

I settled on a new color for the brand called Fields of Crystal (see below). It's a vintage-looking wash that's perfect for spring and summer. As soon as I slid these babies on I did a happy dance. They were tight but not suffocating and they were soft as can be with the perfect amount of stretch. I felt held-in but not squeezed and best of all, no sagging after a long day of wear. These have quickly become my most-worn pair of jeans and I can't wait to add a dark wash pair to my collection.

If you live in New York City, you can visit AYR's showroom to get fitted for your new favorite jeans. If you live elsewhere, try their home try-on system. You'll receive three sizes of skinny jeans in their most popular wash to test out. When you find your favorite fit, simply send back the pairs that didn't work and you're only charged for what you keep.

Once you've stocked up on denim, I highly recommend their other wares as well. I particularly adore the Wrap Top ($195) and the Framework Jacket ($395).
