In today's era of hyper retouching, it's rare to see anything real—and it can get to your self esteem. So we have to admit we felt just a little better about ourselves after seeing these images of Natalia Vodianova and a host of other famous catwalkers, including Raquel Zimmermann, in all their natural glory. The photos are a series of commissioned portraits by Scott Trindle to celebrate the launch of new agency Viva Models.
Instead of gussying up their lovely ladies with full hair and makeup, the agency decided to go in the other direction: They shot all of them in black and white, sans hair, makeup and retouching.
The results, which are thoroughly refreshing, are available for viewing online. Viva's director Natalie Hand says:
His images stood out because it was just so interesting and rare for us to see the girls like that; he shot them with no additional hair, make-up or styling. They were shot exactly as they were in person, exactly how they were when they walked through his door. And they looked really beautiful. The blemishes added to their charm. And you could definitely learn something about the model's real character from the pictures.
