Kim Kardashian may have no qualms about lending her image to things like Silly Bandz and sneakers, but there's one thing where she draws the line—Turkey. Recently, the cover she shot for Cosmopolitan was run as the cover of Cosmo Turkey.
Kim and her team were aware that this is common practice for international magazines, but didn't realize it would be used for the Turkish edition—especially not this month. Kim is Armenian and the cover was released just weeks before April 24, the day when the genocide committed by Ottoman Turkey against Armenians is commemorated.
Kim says she regrets the cover was used for Cosmo Turkey, but wrote a post on her blog saying there are no hard feelings. She says:
My Armenian heritage means a lot to me and I’ve been brought up to be incredibly proud of my family’s background and culture so as an Armenian-American woman it is a huge honor for me to be on the first ever Armenian Cosmopolitan cover.
I have an amazing relationship with Cosmopolitan Magazine. World-over, Cosmo is known as a fun and inspiring magazine for women of all races, shapes, sizes, regardless of their political beliefs and I really hope that if I can bring awareness to the issue, then this in an accomplishment.Check out Kim Kardashian's Lookbooks on StyleBistro:
