Report: Uggs Are a Great Environment for Foot Fungus Ashley Greene in Jimmy Choo UGGS
For years, it's been popular to hate on UGGS, the leather sheepskin boots that have found favor with many a celebrity seeking maximum warmth and comfort. Nearly all the female stars of Gossip Girl are spotted wearing the boots between takes on the set, while celebs like Sarah Jessica Parker have integrated them into their daily errand-running wardrobes.

Now some of those stars may be less eager to rest their feet in the toasty shoes, as Fashionista reports a NYC podiatrist named Dr. Olivier Zong claims the boots provide a more than hospitable environment for not-so-trendy foot fungus.

But don't ditch your sheepskins just yet: another NYC podiatrist, Dr. Howard Shapiro, says that UGGS might actually help to prevent fungus: "Uggs have a wool lining so ... I would think that if anything they would absorb the sweat [that causes foot fungus]."

The moral of the story: Just try to keep your feet clean and dry.
