Every season, there's one celeb who makes it a mission to hit all the major front rows at Paris Fashion Week. This year, it was rapper and aspiring designer Kanye West, who apparently didn't score all the invites he'd hoped for, leading to a couple of awkward situations.
While West made appearances at the Valentino, Givenchy, Chanel, Jean Charles de Castelbajac and Yves Saint Laurent shows, he was not admitted to the Balmain and Alexander McQueen shows. Not through the front door, anyway.
According to show organizer KCD, "Mr. West requested to attend [the Balmain show] and we let him know we would not be able to accommodate him. He chose to come to the door anyway and we kindly let him know we could not accommodate him." A similar situation happened at the Alexander McQueen show—also organized by KCD—although someone let him in through a side door.
So, does KCD have something against Kanye? Not necessarily. The number of designers opting to keep their front rows celeb-free is on the rise, as some, including Marc Jacobs, believe that their presence is distracting from the main event.
Kanye? Stealing the spotlight? Never!
