Solange is a trailblazer when it comes to black girl magic, and she uses her art to uplift, represent, and give a voice to black women. Her 2016 album A Seat at the Table helped elevate the thoughts and struggles of African Americans in America, where songs like the defiant "Don't Touch My Hair" celebrated natural locks and autonomy over self, and tracks like "Weary" and "Mad" highlighted the constant struggle faced by the black community in a society that ignores its pain.

Her work helped open a dialogue about racial tensions while simultaneously celebrating people of color.
