2. Croque Madame
In English: "crunch madame." While the croque monsieur may be more well-known with Americans, the madame version is even better. The difference? It has an egg on top, giving it even more protein. Both croques — if that's even a word — is the French answer to the American grilled cheese, but instead of slabs of processed mush in the middle, a croque is made with gruyere, ham, and béchamel sauce. Fun fact about béchamel: it makes everything better.
