Fashion Trend Report: Metallics
This is one trend we think you'll take a shine to.
In the realm of fashion, metallics have basically become neutrals. They are eye-catching—albeit easy to style—little glimmers of happiness in our black and gray filled wardrobes. But lest you assume we're bringing you old news, behold the fresh new metallic pieces from the Spring 2014 runway collections of Saint Laurent, Rochas and Altuzarra.
The difference in this year's metallics is the way designers treated them—that is to say, any which way they liked. Hedi Slimane gave his an edgy, patina look, while Rochas pleated his. Altuzarra's standout metallic pieces looked molten enough to melt right off his models.
Celebrities have jumped on the metallics train, too, cashing in on the skin-flattering effects of glistening gold, silver and bronze. Plus, it's hard to overlook a star who is literally shining on the red carpet. Chrissy Teigen, Taylor Swift and Ciara have all worn incredible metallic gowns recently.
While your uses for a glittering ball gown may be minimal, there are other, more wearable options if you want to add a little shine to your wardrobe. We love these pieces from Modcloth, Piperlime, Zara and Shopbop.
