Cate Blanchett unveiled a shorter, sassier hairdo at the 2010 Tony Awards. From head on, it appeared as if Cate had simply pulled her hair into an updo, but side-view photos reveal that she actually chopped it all off! Up until now, Cate's been sporting shoulder-length hair. This new pixie cut is a dramatic change for a dramatic leading lady!
Cate, as usual, looks stunning with short hair and her unique features are beautifully emphasized. This isn't the first time she's gone with a short 'do, but it's been a while since her last big date with scissors.
If you like Cate's 'do, here are a few tips and tricks to help you get the look:
1. While your hair is wet, part your hair off-center and use a blow dryer or flat iron to sweep your bangs to the side.
2. If you have curly hair, apply a heat protecting serum then use a flat iron to get sleek, straight strands.
3. If you have thin hair, using a round brush when you blow dry will help add some body.
4. When putting product in your hair, place a small amount on your palm and rub your hands together. Then, use your fingers to apply product—do not use your palms. If you run out of product on your fingers, rub your hands together again. You'll get a more even application of product and won't end up with globs of hair product everywhere.
Good luck, and have a happy hair day!
