Now that festival season is officially upon us with Coachella kicking off this weekend, it's about time to embrace your boho side. To help you channel your inner flower child, we hit up Judy McGuiness, stylist at New York's Mizu salon, for some ultimate DIY action. McGuiness created a super simple braid-within-a-braid for dancing the night away at any festival you've got lined up this summer. Get the steps to master the look at home, below.

Before beginning, prep the hair with your favorite beach salt spray to give the hair grip. McGuiness recommends R + Co Rockaway Salt Spray ($25).

Step 1: Create a deep side part. Section off the front portion of hair about two inches from the hairline. Create a reverse French braid, otherwise known as a Dutch braid.

Step 2: Continue the braid until you reach your eye and stop gathering hair. Finish off the braid as you normally would. From eye level down, the braid should be free to hang. Tie off with an elastic and let hang.

Step 3: Lightly tease the crown with a brush to give extra volume.

Step 4: Pin the hanging braid to the back of the head.

Step 5: Gather hair at the nape of the neck—including the pinned-back braid—and fishtail braid your hair to the end.

Step 6: Tie off with an elastic to secure.

Step 7: Fatten the braid by tugging gently at the sides.

Step 8: For added texture, rub your hands together over the braid to give a loose, carefree vibe.

Step 9: Finish off by spraying texture spray or dry shampoo to achieve the ultimate boho look. McGuiness recommends R + Co Death Valley Dry Shampoo ($29).

Step 10: Put on some tunes, and you're ready for any festival.
