Who: Nancy Rose, activewear designer of Nancy Rose Performance
Best fitness advice ever received: "Try to connect your mind with the muscle you are working—it helps to isolate that particular muscle, making the exercise that much more effective."
Favorite pre- or post-workout snack: "I try to do my workout first thing in the morning, so I don’t eat considering I can barely get my eyes open. Post-workout, if I have time, I love fresh fruit and an egg white omelet. Most of the time I am rushing so I grab a bar. Kind fruit-and-nut bars are one of my faves."
Favorite workout gear: "Nancy Rose Performance printed plank pants ($94) are my favorites [because] the prints are edgy and still subtle. Since I always like to wear black, it breaks it up a bit, too."
Gym bag beauty essentials: "Dermalogica skin purifying face wipes ($19), Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer ($43), Bobbi Brown pot rouge for cheeks ($27) and Lancôme Hypnose Mascara ($28)."
Go-to exercise: Post-Run Pilates (15 minutes, or however long it takes you to do as many possible reps with each move)
"My favorite type of exercise is Pilates. I don’t like training with weights, so I love the resistance of the springs. It is also great for posture and I feel elongated after a workout. When I cannot get to Pilates, I start my day off with a run. I like to do incline intervals followed by walking both forwards and backwards on a high incline. After my run, I do a few traditional exercises, and I do as many as I can all in one set. I love this because it is very quick and very effective."
