If you have 30 minutes and enough space for a yoga mat, then all you're missing for a killer full-body workout is the Ugi ball. The sphere, which resembles a medicine ball but is slightly bigger and moldable like a firm bean bag, had us skeptical at first. After trying it out, however, we can guarantee that you'll be drenched in sweat and sore for days after a single Ugi ball workout.
The at-home system ($169), which comes with an instructional DVD, nutrition plan and book of exercises, is easy to follow and can be done anywhere. Half an hour flies by as you do 30 consecutive one-minute exercises targeting different muscle groups. It combines strength training and cardio in each workout: you'll flow from side lunges to burpees to shoulder presses to tricep dips and reverse crunches with no rest in between. While it is challenging, it is fun enough that you'll want to incorporate it into your daily routine.
The ball comes in varying weights to suit any fitness level—6lbs, 8lbs, 10lbs and 12lbs—and works your core especially since it is an unstable surface. You are constantly exerting more work in your muscles to find balance, for example, when you place your hands on top of the ball to do push ups or planks. On the DVD, you are given a six day exercise plan but can mix it up as you please using the complete guide. In short, you'll never get bored.
