Kate Moss's Sheer Dress
Kate Moss's dress at the 1993 Elite Model Agency Look of the Year party made a splash, but for all the wrong reasons.
The young model wore a metallic slip dress to the event, but she didn't realize it was sheer underneath lights. Once the photographers realized it was seethrough under their flash, they decided to exploit the model and the situation by continuing to take photographs of her. She was only 19 years old at the time, which only highlights how predatory the industry can be.
Kate Moss explained in an interview that she didn't know it was sheer. "It was the first time I really got papped. I had no idea why everyone was so excited — in the darkness of Corinne’s Soho flat the dress was not see-through!”"
