23. April Olrich's Handmade Dress
In 1959, British actor April Olrich made her own dress to the London premiere of No Trees in the Street. She made the high-low gown from a Chinese tapestry, and rather than wearing the usual mermaid or tea-length dress silhouettes, Olrich went with the fashion-forward bell-shaped look. She was definitely ahead of the curve, and unafraid to make her own fashion fantasies come true.
