The 'Just Right' Weight
Tips for how to get pregnant
Being overweight or underweight can reduce your changes of conceiving significantly. So when you are trying for a baby, you really need to think about that. Ideally your BMI (body mass index) should be at 20-25. If you are over or under this then chances are you’ll struggle to fall pregnant quickly.
Being overweight also increases the chance of high blood pressure and diabetes during pregnancy, and can contribute to complications in pregnancy too.
Visit your doctor and check if your weight could be a barrier to becoming pregnant, you might find you need to gain or lose weight to maximize your conception chances.
Never crash diet or starve yourself - no matter how quickly you want to become pregnant, losing weight takes time and needs to be done sensibly. In the long run it will all be worth it - and you can be a healthier parent too!
