Any true lover of shoes knows that each fantastically wrought stiletto, platform and boot tells a tale all its own. Manolo Blahnik, who of course revolutionized the designer shoe market, says he makes up a story for every shoe he creates.

The footwear designer—whose creations were made famous Sarah Jessica Parker as Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw—envisions characters and tales throughout his creative process. He says that's where he finds inspiration. According to his niece, Kristina Blahnik,

He sings to himself. I have always thought Manolo's shoes have a lot of character; but then when I went to the factory for the first time and saw them, I realised that Manolo will actually tell a story to himself about a particular shoe when he is cutting the pattern. He will imagine who it will be worn by.
Manolo himself told The Independent newspaper: "I just go crazy. It excites me when I do
something I like.
