Christian Siriano Plans to Expand Payless Footwear for Fall 2011(Imaxtree) Christian Siriano wants to do right by his fans. The New York-based designer has a highly dedicated following, thanks to his winning stint on Project Runway—but few of those admirers can afford the designer's wares, with gowns running four digits and upwards.

StyleList reports that Siriano is planning to expand his line of footwear for Payless ShoeSource with those fans in mind. At an American Express event at Manhattan's Saks Fifth Avenue, Siriano said, "That's why I do the Payless collection, because a lot of the fans are young and can't afford the clothing."

Hence, a 20 piece collection of shoes, boots, sandals and handbags is planned for Fall 2011, although the designer is also considering launching a higher-priced footwear line as well. But Siriano fans will be the first to tell you that the shoes sold in Payless stores are remarkably toned-down from the runway originals. Perhaps with the new expansion, there will be more room for the very wild.
