Watch Madeline Stuart, the Aussie Teen With Down Syndrome, Rock the Runway at New York Fashion Week
Stuart looked gorgeous at the Hendrik Vermeulen show.
We've seen some seriously stunning models at New York Fashion Week so far, and one of our favorites is Madeline Stuart, an 18-year-old Aussie model with Down Syndrome. Stuart is redefining beauty one catwalk at a time and she looked amazing at Hendrik Vermeulen's show Sunday.
Stuart started out backstage where she got all dolled up...
And she hit the runway in fancy facepaint and an intricate white gown. How fantastic does she look?
She also rocked a pants and shorts ensemble and got to pose with these dudes, who must have spent hours in the makeup chairs:
Stuart closed out her appearance at Fashion Week on Sunday by walking out with the labels creators: Hendrik Vermeulen and Jean-Daniel Meyer-Vermeulen.
Stuart says Down Syndrome isn't the burden that some people view it as. Her website reads: “Maddy really wants to change the way people discriminate against disability through gaining attention through social media. She wants people to know that Down Syndrome is a blessing, something to be celebrated."
If this is the first you've seen of Stuart, it won't be the last. She landed two major modeling contracts this year — one for fitness brand Manifesta and the other for everMaya, a line of eco-friendly handbags (5% of the sale of each bag will be donated to the National Down Syndrome Society).
