I adore Tina Fey, and if you've read her book Bossy Pants, you'd know why. Wether she's hosting the Golden Globes or anchoring SNL, staring in a movie or writing a hit show, she is non-stop brilliant. Tina is the perfect balance of smart and funny, silly and wise. And she happens to have some important tips for fellow women in the working world. Scroll down for her sage advice.
1. You do you:
“Don’t waste your energy trying to educate or change opinions; go over, under, through, and opinions will change organically when you’re the boss. Or they won’t. Who cares? Do your thing, and don’t care if they like it.”
2. Ask this important question:
“So, my unsolicited advice to women in the workplace is this. When faced with sexism, or ageism, or lookism, or even really aggressive Buddhism, ask yourself the following question: “Is this person in between me and what I want to do?” If the answer is no, ignore it and move on. Your energy is better used doing your work and outpacing people that way. Then, when you’re in charge, don’t hire the people who were jerky to you.”
3. Find Solutions:
“Whatever the problem, be part of the solution. Don’t just sit around raising questions and pointing out obstacles.”
4. When you make it to the top:
“In most cases being a good boss means hiring talented people and then getting out of their way.”
5. And if your self esteem ever takes a hit remember:
"Confidence is 10 percent hard work and 90 percent delusion."
