Who says beauty equals pain? When it comes to today’s rapidly burgeoning world of athleisure, we all know that’s not the case. According to Whitney Quaresma, the creative mastermind behind chic and contemporary activewear brand BELOFORTE, real beauty goes hand-in-hand with strength and confidence.

At Livingly, we couldn’t agree more (and we’re fully on board with everything BELOFORTE is doing right). I was beyond excited for the chance to chat with Whitney and find out how she hit the ground running as Creative Director.

As for the brand itself, the sheer functionality of each piece is showcased in its modern and transitional style. A neutral palette of grey, white and black gives edgy additions like laser-cut silhouettes a streamlined finish. All in all, the collection is built to take empowered women from day to night, to the gym and beyond; and it definitely shows.

Can you tell us about your creative vision for BELOFORTE, and how it came about as a brand?

My personal wardrobe consists of a combination of sexy and classy, stylish and edgy, and modern and classic. I have a very colorful personality and an appreciation for passionate people who are on a mission to do great things, change lives and create.

As a woman in the fitness industry, and in the working world, it is important to develop a strong sense of who you are and where you are going, otherwise it’s too easy to get overlooked or walked over. BELOFORTE was created to stand out as a brand that is transitional, high quality, stylish and comfortable.

I envision this brand transcending beauty and strength through the hard working women who wear it. One of our hashtags is #beyourownstrong which means beauty and strength in all forms. To me, beauty in the soul and strength in the mind is extremely powerful.

What were the biggest challenges you faced in actualizing that vision, as someone who did not have former experience as a designer?

I am still learning the process of the “traditional designer”. I am definitely a little unorthodox in my role as the creative designer for my brand. I’m sure that makes it slightly frustrating at times for my team, but I also think it brings a lot of outside of the box thinking and creativity to the table. The learning curve has been a huge challenge, but a very enjoyable one as well. I guess it’s in my nature.

Luckily Kevin, my business partner and brand director, is really good at what he does; he is passionate about our brand, and also embraces a good challenge!

Another big challenge for me has been just trying to get our name out there.

When you are a new brand without an established designer, it’s definitely harder to get your product off the ground. If I didn’t have to work hard for it, it wouldn’t be worth it. I believe people will fall in love with Beloforte. We just have to make sure the world knows who we are!

Courage and adaptability.

With the athleisure trend more popular than ever, how do you ensure that your vision for BELOFORTE stands out from the rest?

The market has become fairly saturated which will make it hard to set yourself apart from other brands. The good news is the athleisure trend is becoming more and more popular and accepted. The modern day woman wants comfort, fashion and transitional clothes and that is what Beloforte is.

We are trendy, luxury active wear that can be transformed from gym to street. Beloforte will continue to bring you our signature laser cut inspired looks, along with quality, comfort and trendy styles that make women feel confident, strong and sexy. That’s what every woman wants!

Living beautiful to me means finding those things that set your soul on fire, and then spend as much time doing those things as possible. When you find what makes you come alive and you can share that with the world, THAT is a beautiful thing!
