Men Can't Figure Out What Women Are Feeling Just By Looking At You, Says Science

Are you mad as hell? Really sad? Pleased as punch? Chances are the guy sitting next to you hasn't got a clue.
A recent paper published in the journal Plos One detailed a scientific study at the LWL-University Hospital in Germany where 22 men were asked to look at 36 pairs of eyes—half and half men and women—to see if they could tell what emotion (positive, neutral, or negative) the pictured person was feeling. Turns out, the study's participants were worse at figuring out what the women were feeling—and the scientists hypothesize that throughout evolution, men have been conditioned to pay less attention to women's emotions.
"As men were more involved in hunting and territory fights, it would have been important for them to be able to predict and foresee the intentions and actions of their male rivals," the team explained.
Furthermore, researchers found that the areas in the brain that are linked to emotions were triggered more strongly when men looked at men's eyes than when they looked at women's eyes.
