Myths About Using Dating Apps
Even though the use of dating apps is becoming more common than ever, by millennials and otherwise, the truth is that there are still so many misconceptions about the world of online dating. And while some of those myths aren't so mythical (yes, there is a chance you'll get ghosted or cat-fished; it does happen), many of them are like the Great White Buffalo. And we're going to have to let them get away, because guess what? Using a dating app does not make you desperate, for one.
All that said, some would even go so far as to declare that Tinder has led to the dawn of the "dating apocalypse" (*cough* Vanity Fair *cough*). And although I do at least partially agree that the increasing popularity of swipe-right culture has led to the decline of IRL romance, it's not the only thing causing the depressing lack of chivalry in modern society. And it's not always true, either.
I'm not the biggest fan of Tinder myself, don't get me wrong. But that doesn't mean I'm not willing to experiment with it and other dating apps, and I'm all for parting with the stereotypes that surround them. Keep reading for my thoughts on the modern myths of using dating apps.
