Wear Red Shoes with a Black-and-White Outfit
Our love affair with the add-a-red-hot-accessory trend continues. This past week, designers amped up otherwise-subdued black-and-white looks with a zingy dose of crimson. At Nina Ricci, a pair of patent-leather sandals enlivened a graphic floral-and-lace ensemble, while Céline styled a minimalist ensemble with cherry-hued slippers. It's a look that works for day or night, and couldn't be easier to pull off.

Now that post-Labor Day white is fully sanctioned by the fash pack, why don't you jazz up your basic white button-down, jeans or dress with a hefty serving of gold? That was the look at Jean Paul Gaultier, where Joan Smalls' crisp collared shirt was offset by a metallic skirt and matching accessories. (Confession: the early '90s bombshell moment was one of our favorites of the week). Don't want to set off the metal detector? Then limit your gold rush to a simple belt or shiny shoes, like the ones Karl Lagerfeld showed at Chanel. (But, please: leave the gold lurex tights to the pros).

If you thought bandeaus were only for the beach, think again. A bevvy of designers let the minimalist bra top peek out from under sexy sheer tops, like the striped sequin style at Balmain and Barbara Bui's slinky black number. We're loving this look for a big Saturday night out, but a word to the wise: To avoid looking like you got lost on your way to the pool, opt for graphic black and white, and style it with urbane separates (think pencil skirt, not mini skirt).

Surely you have an army-green anorak in your arsenal. (You don't? Get thee this J.Crew fatigue jacket, stat). The all-purpose outwear looks great with jeans and a boyfriend sweater (duh), but it's also a killer complement to dressier duds—like a sequin mini (seen at Sonia Rykiel) or a vintage-y floral frock (spotted at Saint Laurent).
