When the Harvey Weinstein allegations started to pour out this year, Lupita Nyong'o wrote an op-ed in The New York Times, shining a light on her own experience. This opened up a conversation about how black women were being kept from the conversation and not being supported in the same fierce way that their white counterparts were.
"But now that this is being discussed openly, I have not been able to avoid the memories resurfacing. I have felt sick in the pit of my stomach. I have felt such a flare of rage that the experience I recount below was not a unique incident with me, but rather part of a sinister pattern of behavior," she shared.
