(Jason Merritt/Getty Images North America)Color, color everywhere! This year's Golden Globes marked one of the brightest red carpets we've seen in awhile. It seemed everywhere we looked we saw the saturated rainbow hues. Many stars, including (left to right) Lupita Nyong'o in Ralph Lauren, Lena Dunham in Zac Posen, Taylor Schilling in Thakoon, Reese Witherspoon in Calvin Klein, and Maria Menounos, wore simple solid silhouettes, while others...

...embraced the colorblock trend. Amy Adams selected a flowing Valentino halter dress in a monochromatic red color scheme, while Aubrey Plaza went for a complementary purple and pink Oscar de la Renta ensemble. Taylor Swift wore an off-red Carolina Herrera gown with a black bodice trim, and Sandra Bullock's pastel A-line by Prabal Gurung was also constructed with accenting black pieces. Finally, Julie Bowen mixed textures and deep colors in Carolina Herrera

Some stars decided to shine a little more subtly. Among the shimmering muted moments were (left to right) Anna Gunn, Rocsi Diaz, Zooey Deschanel in Oscar de la Renta, Michelle Dockery also in Oscar de la Renta, Naomi Watts in Tom Ford, and Sarah Paulson in Marchesa

Other A-listers made their own bold statements by balancing black and white. Jenna Dewan-Tatum rocked a cream strapless Roberto Cavalli gown with black symmetrical embellishing. Hayden Panettiere, on the other hand, opted for assymetrical colorblocking courtesy of Tom Ford. Downtown Abbey's Laura Carmichael kept it simple in a white strapless with minimal black striping on one side. Menswear and layers inspired Julia Roberts' Dolce & Gabbana look. Allison Williams from Girls elicited edge in a mostly black evening dress with a structured striped bodice. Golden Globe winner Jennifer Lawrence stayed true to Dior in a double-belted gown from the designer's 2013 couture collection, as we so accurately predicted

Each actress dressed up her pregnancy in a different style: Kerry Washington in a classic muted Balenciaga dress; Drew Barrymore in a free-spirited sheer Monique Lhuillier design with red and pink applique; and Olivia Wilde dazzled in a glamorous green Gucci Première number.
